Man dies when car hit utility pole

Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) Director Norvert Yano identified the victim as Orlando Orak, 40 year-old male, a Palauan national.

Initial investigation from the police showed that the victim was traveling Topside road at around 3 a.m. when he hit the pole.

The police said that the impact was so strong causing injuries to the victim’s head.

Yano said Ora was already dead when the police arrived at the scene.

Police personnel had to use a cutting machine to pull out the remains from the car.

The vehicle was severely damaged as a result of the accident.

Prior to the accident, Ora together with his male companion reportedly was at the Sunset Park.

Yano said Ora was on his way home after dropping his friend to his house, the victim rammed into the pole.

Police is still conducting further investigation whether the incident was alcohol related or was due to speeding.
