Man in kidnapping a minor pleads not guilty

Felisto Markub also known as Vito appeared for arraignment on September 11 and pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, false arrest and assault charges.

Markub appeared with Public Defender Jason Shaw while Assistant Attorney General Liz Avore appeared on behalf of the government.Markub was released from custody after he posted $500 surety bond.His status conference is set for September 25 at 9:45 am in Melekeok.Markub was ordered to stay away from the victim while on bail release.He was charged for keeping the minor against her will on April 25.A court document stated that the victim just came from a mass and was on her way home on April 25 at 7 pm when the defendant approached him.The victim was walking in front of Dragon Tei restaurant when Markub who was driving a gray sedan pulled up beside her and asked her to ride with him.The victim refused at first but agreed to go with Markub later when he persisted.Markub drove to Icebox Park and upon parking the car, he hugged the victim and started kissing her.The defendant stopped later when victim started to cry and begged him to stop.
