JONATHAN Natura was sentenced to six months’ probation after admitting he destroyed the cable and internet connection of the Homeland Security Investigations office on Saipan in May 2020.
At the sentencing hearing on Oct. 1, 2021, Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the NMI also ordered Natura to pay a $25 assessment fee and a fine of $200.
Natura was represented by court-appointed attorney Robert T. Torres while Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric S. O’Malley prosecuted the case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Guam and the NMI charged Natura with one count of willful depredation of government property.
The defendant did willfully injure and commit depredation against property of an agency of the United States, the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated.
According to court documents, Natura, on May 1, 2020, used an access card to enter the electrical room of the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations/Immigration Customs Enforcement office on Saipan. He then “disconnected the HSI/ICE cable providing the office with its cable and internet service, and connected a separate cable to his residence.”
When Docomo Pacific checked the line the following morning, Natura admitted that he had disconnected it, his lawyer said.
In May 2021, Natura pled guilty to one count of willful depredation of government property.
No other information about the defendant was available as of press time Wednesday.
