COHORT 3 of the Marianas Alliance of Non-Governmental Organizations’ Lemmai-Mei Incubator Project recently concluded its third training module, Training Manager Shawna Babauta said.
Cohort members are closer to filling the “vital roles” that non-profit organizations play in the Marianas, she added.
Babauta said the Lemmai-Mei Incubator Project is designed to “provide technical assistance to all non-profits in the CNMI.”
The project is a six module group seminar and workshop. Cohort members begin the project by meeting with Babauta to discuss their nonprofits’ goals. Afterward, they engage in group discussions and activities on the following topics:
Module 1-Nonprofit Toolkit
Module 2-Board Training
Module 3-Sustainability
Module 4-Strategic Planning
Module 5-Nonprofit Management
Module 6-Financial Management.
“So far, many participants value the discussions and provide support in their own ways for each other,” Babauta told Variety.
The project caters to “all CNMI-based nonprofits” or anyone in the Commonwealth who is “passionate” about an issue and willing to fill a community need, she said.
Babauta said organizations or individuals who sign up for the project receive “frequent updates” about nonprofit community events or announcements.
She said there is currently no set start date for Cohort 4, as the third cohort needs to be completed first. But MANGO will still hold community workshops regarding nonprofit work in the meantime, she added.
“Nonprofits play a vital role in the CNMI community. Nonprofits provide job opportunities, networking opportunities, volunteering opportunities, and some people can find their life-long calling through nonprofit work and many more,” Babauta said.
