Marianas Southern Airways inaugural flight set for Aug. 12

THE Commonwealth’s newest airline, Marianas Southern Airways, is now officially available for travel.

As of Tuesday, its inaugural flight is scheduled for Aug. 12, from Saipan to Tinian, for $39 one way.

On Aug. 15, its first flight from Saipan to Rota is anticipated to take off for $69 one way.

Then, on Aug. 20, the airline will go even further with a flight from Saipan to Guam, for $99 one way.

Marianas Southern Airways officially launched its website on Wednesday, calling itself as “The Air Bridge of the Marianas,” on a mission to introduce “a new era in inter-island air travel.”

The website says that the airline is “the flagship airline of the CNMI,” offering more flights, more frequency, and more to come.

It also states that Southern Airways is the largest commuter airline in the U.S.

Flights are offered daily with the initial flight schedule as follows:

• Saipan to Tinian: 7 a.m. (except Sunday), 9:50 a.m., and 4 p.m. (except Saturday)

• Tinian to Saipan: 7:35 a.m. (except Sunday), 10:25 a.m., and 4:35 p.m. (except Saturday)

• Saipan to Rota: 8:10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.

• Rota to Saipan: 9 a.m. and 2:35 p.m.

• Saipan to Guam: 11:10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.

• Guam to Saipan: 12:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m.

Flights between Saipan and Tinian are estimated to take 15 minutes; Saipan and Rota, 30 minutes; and Saipan and Guam, 50 minutes.

No flights between Rota and Guam have been announced.

The airline is also offering frequent traveler discounts in which travelers can prepay and save with special discounts and baggage benefits exclusive to prepaid accounts.

Regardless of the amount prepaid, and regardless of the fare purchased, Corporate Card members will receive one free change per reservation and two free bags per traveler for reservations made under their account.

Corporate Card members receive a special login that allows them to utilize their prepaid funds.

They also receive the ability to create logins for employees, family members, or trusted travel handlers to allow them to book as well.
