ROTA Mayor Aubry M. Hocog is asking the Senate for technical assistance to train her and the resident directors’ staff in preparing the municipal government’s budget proposal.
In her letter to Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, the mayor “humbly requested” that the Senate allow fiscal analyst David Demapan to fly to Rota and fund his travel for the purpose of training all the pertinent staffers of the Rota Mayor Office’s budget and administration divisions as well as the staffers of the resident directors.
“This would allow our departments here on Rota and the Rota Mayor’s…Budget Office to prepare more fiscally responsible annual budget requests and to conduct a more cost-effective operational analysis,” the Rota mayor said.
She added that sending a fiscal analyst to Rota would be more beneficial than the current practice of providing the island’s leaders with fiscal advice 10 minutes before a Senate budget hearing.
Since “we are facing challenging economic times,” the mayor said they “need to be most prepared on how best to operate our municipality from here on, and his professional and technical assistance is most appreciated,” she added, referring to Demapan.
