New Assistant Attorney General swears in

Ortega took her oath in office on Wednesday as Assistant Attorney General (AAG) administered by Associate Justice Kathleen Salii.

The oath taking was graced by her friends other members of AG’s office and media.

Ortega was a graduate of Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. She then went to Loyola Law School in LA and took her master’s degree in International Law.

Ortega’s grandfather is Argentinean and her mother is European.

Prior to joining the AG office, she worked in Los Angeles for three years and she has experience in Civil Law and International Law.

Ortega will serve as AAG on Palau for two years.

Meanwhile, another female lawyer has joined the OAG as a new government prosecutor, last week.

Vameline Remeldiil formally sworn in administered by Salii after she passed the Palau Bar.

She was a welcome addition to the women lawyers in Palau.

Attorney General Ernestine Rengiil said that Singeo is now a full-pledged lawyer and she will be promoted as Assistant Attorney General.

Singeo currently works at the OAG as a law clerk.

She was a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2009. She also holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts Political Science and Communication from the University of Hawaii, Hilo.

Prior to joining the OAG, Singeo was a summer intern from May 2008 to August 2008 at the Office of the Independent Counsel.
