GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang on Wednesday proclaimed March as CNMI Women’s Month and March 8 as International Women’s Day.
Palacios said he is surrounded by “amazing, smart women who make things happen.”
He added, “There are many capable women…who have contributed to our community. It is truly inspiring.”
Apatang, for his part, said in jest: “Guys, be careful! These women are working very hard in whatever they do.”
Inspiring
Crystal Cabrera Pangelinan was the inspirational speaker during the proclamation-signing ceremony at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center.
She said she thought she lost her future after falling in love at the age of 14 and having a baby.
But she said she still managed to graduate from high school, pursue her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and start her own business with the help of her family.
Now a small business owner, Pangelinan said her journey was not easy as there were times when she wanted to give up.
“But I have always been a strong-willed and motivated woman so I removed these thoughts,” she said.
She is also grateful to her supportive parents and partner.
“My dad was always my biggest cheerleader. My partner is exactly that — my partner in every decision I made. He was there for every tear I cried,” she said.
She is encouraging all women to remain strong-willed no matter what they are going through in life, and to continue believing in themselves.
“There are going to be times when you would want to quit. Trust me, I’ve been there…numerous times,” she added.
But she pushed through and found motivation through the supportive and loving people around her.
“Stop watching people soar and fly because everything you need is in you,” she said.
