NMTI announces board vacancies

THE Northern Marianas Technical Institute has announced two vacancies on its board of trustees following the resignations of Richard Kautz Jr. of Saipan and Ray Pangelinan of Tinian.

“On behalf of the board of trustees and the NMTI staff, we are truly grateful for Mr. Richard Kautz Jr. and Mr. Ray Pangelinan for their dedicated time and service as trustees of the NMTI board. We wish them both great health and many blessings in all your endeavors,” said NMTI interim chief executive officer Jodina Attao on Monday.

Attao said the NMTI board is encouraging interested and qualified persons to apply for recently vacated positions.

On Feb. 18, 2019, Governor Ralph DLG Torres signed Public Law 20-92, transforming NMTI — a nonprofit trades school founded by the late businessman Anthony Pellegrino in 2008 — into a public nonprofit corporation.

Under the law, a board member must be a legal domiciliary of the CNMI and a U.S. citizen, be of legal adult voting age within the CNMI, be a registered voter on his or her respective island, and demonstrate a capacity for representing the CNMI’s career and technical training fields relative to meeting the overall purpose of the NMTI.

No person may become a trustee while a CNMI government or NMTI employee, or until one year after the conclusion of his or her CNMI government or NMTI employment.

For more information, or to submit a letter of interest, email cnmi.nmti@gmail.com.

The deadline to apply is this Friday, Sept. 3.
