NMTI Fall 2021 registration now open

REGISTRATION for the Fall 2021 semester at the Northern Marianas Technical Institute is now open.

Classes that are being offered for the upcoming semester are core courses, such as Automotive (Brakes), Carpentry Level 1, Culinary, Electrical Level 1, Electrical Level 2, Electronic Systems Level 1; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition, or HVAC, Level 1; and Welding Level 1.

The vision of the NMTI is to provide a world-class regional training center with a state-of-the-art facility, equipment, and instructional tools serving at least 200 students.

Its mission is to provide quality technical trades and other related occupational programs designed to expand the quantity and quality of the CNMI’s labor pool of skilled workers, and thereby support the Commonwealth’s economic development.

In a previous interview, NMTI interim chief executive officer Jodina Attao said a workforce career training facility is underway in Koblerville for the institute, funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Through the Office of Planning and Development, NMTI was able to obtain a consultant for all USEDA grants awarded to the institute, which, Attao said, helps alleviate the costs of having a single consultant per project.

“Although we are at infancy stages, we now have a federally approved draft request for proposal in which we will be integrating our local CNMI procurement regulations,” Attao said.

NMTI admits students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the institute. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarships and loan programs, and other institute-administered programs.
