NORTHERN Marianas Technical Institute officials recently visited Tinian and Rota to explore new possibilities and opportunities.
The team was led by interim Chief Executive Officer Jodina Attao and included Marketing and Outreach Coordinator Benjamin Babauta, Curriculum Coordinator Jerry Pangelinan, Automotive Instructor Dante Yumul, Network Administrator Stephen Sablan, and Facilities Manager Lucio Saures.
While on Tinian, the NMTI team met with acting Mayor Joseph Santos and the resident director for the Department of Labor, Jay Jess San Nicolas.
The team also held a townhall meeting at Tinian Junior Senior High School on Jan. 24 with former NMTI culinary arts student Chef Jacob Lisua as guest speaker.
Lisua is currently employed by Triple J Bar K Tinian.
The team then met with Northern Marianas College-Tinian Resident Director Maria Aguon and completed a site visit of the campus.
On Rota, NMTI board members Catherine Attao and Ana Mendiola met with Mayor Efraim Atalig, Department of Labor Resident Director Christine Cabrera, and Department of Commerce Resident Director Dean Manglona.
The NMTI team then held a townhall meeting at the Sinapalo Youth Center on Rota on Jan. 31.
They also met with juniors and seniors at Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior/Senior High School, and with NMC-Rota Resident Director Diana Benavente Hocog during a site visit.
First established as a private, nonprofit entity in 2008 by local businessman Tony Pellegrino, NMTI is now a nonprofit public corporation that offers the following programs: hotel and hospitality, automotive technology, construction trades, power generation, and culinary arts.
