NMTI to get a facelift, says interim CEO

NORTHERN Marianas Technical Institute interim chief executive officer Jodina Attao on Wednesday said the NMTI facility will be getting a much-needed facelift.

“One of the most recent and most exciting updates is the facility facelift. ‘Facelift’ might seem like a funny word, but what we really mean is that the facility is getting the update it needs,” she said.

Updates not only include revamping indoor and outdoor spaces and layout, but also updating the administrative outlook, visual perspective, and relationships with stakeholders.

Physical improvements to the facility include fixing leaks, repairing bathrooms, maximizing spaces, and managing what individuals see as soon as they step foot onto and into the facility, Attao said.

As for the administrative aspect of it, she said that there will be improvements in strategic planning, funding sources, placement of personnel within the facility, and building and establishing new relationships with stakeholders.

Every Friday, NMTI will “dress down” to assist with the physical work on this “facelift journey,” Attao said.

“Right now, the NMTI team is working on moving offices to an area that can be easily identified by patrons and stakeholders. We are also painting walls, refurbishing shelves, sorting through and reorganizing storage spaces, cleaning up mold from water damages, rewiring IT related cables, and so much more,” she said.

NMTI has also partnered with the Department of Corrections-Outreach Program to provide general facility maintenance.

“As the Outreach Program participants extend their services, NMTI will provide Certificates of Appreciation and discounted prices for certification classes for various trades courses,” said Attao.

A memorandum of understanding is underway, she added.

The interim CEO also noted that enrollment for the fall semester is open.

Classes begin Aug. 18, 2021.

Office Hours: 8 am to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

“We welcome community members to enroll,” Attao said.
