THE Division of Coastal Resources Management will close out its Ocean Month activities with a movie night and trivia competition this week.
On Wednesday, June 28, at the American Memorial Park theater, DCRM will host a free screening of the documentary “PUFF: Wonders of the Reef,” which shows what the coral reef ecosystem is like from the perspective of a baby pufferfish.
“We thought this would be a good movie to show people of all ages,” said Elly Perez, a national coral reef management fellow at DCRM. “The movie does a great job of showing off the marine environment, specifically a coral reef ecosystem similar to what we see here in the CNMI, perfect to show people during ocean month.”
The next night, on June 29 at 7 p.m., the public is invited to an ocean-themed trivia night at Marianas Creations in Garapan.
Perez said winners will receive t-shirts and reusable straws.
“These events help foster a deeper understanding of the critical role oceans play in our everyday lives and therefore the dire need to conserve and preserve them,” Perez said of Ocean Month activities.
