The bill was introduced by Sen. Surangel Whipps Jr. and the bill stressed that the deadline is scheduled to expire on Oct. 30, 2009.
The bill said that bureau will not be able to complete its statutorily mandated survey and monumentation of lands within the Republic by the deadline.
The bill calls for an additional one-year term.
The existing law gave the BLS until Oct. 30, 2009 to complete its work.
