To honor Pedro, President Remengesau issued Presidential Proclamation No. 08-08 directing that flags be flown at half-mast in his memory.
Remengesau in the proclamation said that Pedro was a highly respected traditional leader and dedicated public servant.Pedro is the High Chief of Angaur and held that title until his death.Pedro served as the first Chief of Clerk of the Senate of Congress of Micronesia, as a legislator from Angaur to Palau District Legislature as Vice President of the Angaur Constitutional Drafting Commission.Pedro was born on January 28, 1935 to Dib Pedro Ngiracherbed of Tmiu Clan and Dilbelau Maungil Uwes Pedro of Orakiblai Clan.“The passing of Ucherelau Balerio Pedro is a great loss not only to his family and friends, but to the state of Angaur and Republic of Palau,” the proclamation said.The flags will be flown at half-mast for five days commencing on Sept. 9 to mourn the death of Pedro.
