BPS Director Norvert H. Yano in media release has caution the public especially the business establishment to take extra care and identification measures in the examination of US Dollar Bills to ensure authenticity.
Yano said there has been an increase in reported use of counterfeit bills in both business establishments and individual persons.
Yano said confiscated bills range in value from as low as $5, $10, $20 and $50 and up to $100.
The Director advised the public to utilize counterfeit markers to ensure authenticity of the bills receive or utilize other methods of identification available to them.
BPS said all businesses or persons who identify or suspect counterfeit bills are requested to call the Criminal Investigation Section at 4882412, 4886059 or the Patrol Division Central Desk at 4881422 or 911 to report it.
Yano said the public is also requested to assist the police by identifying the person or persons using the bills and if possible note the general description of the person.
