PSS conducts strategic performance management work session

OVER a hundred Public School System educators, school administrators and policymakers gathered for a three-day strategic work session in the Koblerville Elementary School cafeteria last week.

This was one the largest gatherings of educators from  Saipan, Tinian and Rota public elementary, middle and high schools, and the participants included  PSS management and leadership teams,  program managers and coordinators as well as the Board of Education.

Known as the “CNMI PSS Strategic Performance Management Mandatory Work Session,” it was held from July 6 to 8, 2022.

Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada said he will continue to work with all public education stakeholders in ensuring the continuous implementation of research-based and proven strategies to support the long-term success and direction of PSS and its students.

PSS said  the work session aimed to ensure that structure and routines are in place to guide the school system’s strategic direction and actions in the next three years.

PSS said the work session helped key management to be a highly effective team  by identifying needed structural changes and support, common language, framework and team-building processes and routines.

In addition, PSS said a multi-year strategic plan has been developed that is aligned with a multi-year budget, and with the Cognia Performance Standards. The plan will help ensure that schools are successfully meeting the standards for accreditation, PSS added.

Cognia is the new name of AdvancED | Measured Progress, the accrediting body of PSS.
