PSS, Triple J receive ESGR Pro Patria Award

THE Public School System and Triple J last week received the Pro Patria Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Guam-CNMI Committee.

The award is presented annually to an employer who has demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through the employer’s leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve.

Pro Patria is the highest award that may be bestowed by an ESGR state committee, according to ESGR Guam-CNMI area chair Rita A. Sablan, Ed.D. In the CNMI, only PSS and Triple J received the award this year.

Sablan, ESGR CNMI ombudsman Joann T. Aquino and area chair emeritus and employer outreach coordinator Rose Igitol handed the Pro Patria Award to Education Commissioner Alfred B. Ada on Tuesday and to Triple J company officials on Wednesday last week.

The ESGR committee also handed Patriotic Employer awards to PSS directors Jackie Quitugua and Yvonne Pangelinan, and Chacha Oceanview Middle School principal Martha Kintol.

In a statement to Variety, Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada said PSS will continue to provide support to all servicemembers employed by the school district.

Dr. Ada also expressed his appreciation to the Board of Education for supporting PSS initiatives and programs that ensure that its Guard and Reserve employees continue to grow professionally.

Triple J construction operations manager/senior superintendent Mario Valentino said Triple J is grateful for the nomination. He also thanked the ESGR Guam-CNMI Committee for the award, saying that the recognition is a huge honor for Triple J which, he added, is a huge supporter of U.S. service members.
