A REGISTERED sex offender, David Carl M. Sandbergen, has violated a no-contact order by contacting the victim who is a minor, according to the minor’s mother who declined to be identified.
“Federal authorities flagged the call, and they are the ones who called me to tell me that they are again charging Sandbergen for calling my daughter,” the mother added.
According to the U.S. Army Court-Martial Public Record System:
“On 14 December 2022, at a general court-martial convened at Fort Bliss, Texas, PFC David Carl M. Sandbergen, United States Army, was convicted by a military judge, pursuant to his pleas, of one specification of willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, one specification of failure to obey a lawful order, one specification of wrongfully communicating a threat, one specification of committing a lewd act upon a child who had not attained the age of 16 years, one specification of wrongfully possessing child pornography, and one specification of wrongfully viewing child pornography in violation of Articles 90, 92, 115, 120b, and 134, UCMJ.”
Military Judge Col. Robert L. Shuck sentenced Sandbergen to a prison term of 18 months and forfeited all pay and allowances. Sandbergen was dishonorably discharged from the military.
He was sentenced on Dec. 14, 2022, and was required to register as a sex offender.
The minor’s mother told Variety that she wanted the community to know that Sandbergen is expected to return to Tinian sometime in June next year after serving his sentence.
“It’s a serious case; he is considered a pedophile and he will be released next year. We need to protect our kids in case he tries to find his next victim, who could be a child,” she added.
