Remeliik rescues woman from Sonsorol

 

KOROR (Palau Horizon) – PATROL Boat PSS President H.I. Remeliik was on a medical rescue on Wednesday, evacuating a bleeding woman from Sonsorol State to Koror.


According to Lt. Thomas Tutii, OIC Surveillance, Marine Law Enforcement, they received a call from Sonsorol State on Wednesday about a woman needing transportation and medical assistance. Remeliik immediately set sail at 9:00 in the morning with 13 crew members and one nurse on board.

At 2:00 in the afternoon on Thursday, Remeliik arrived back in Marine Law Port. An ambulance was waiting to rush the woman to the Emergency Room of Belau National Hospital.

The nurse, Amos Solomon, who was onboard Remeliik during the medical rescue did not disclose the whereabouts of the woman nor what happened to her.

Sonsorol State is approximately 190 miles away from Koror or about 24 hours sail back and forth.

Lt. Commander Kimbal Dunsmore, Maritime Surveillance Adviser, said the Sonsorol State office has paid for the fuel of Remeliik

“It’s the first time in two years that Remeliik has been used to evacuate somebody from other islands,” said Tutii.
