Remengesau told reporters that he extended the invitation to Ma through the new Taiwan Ambassador to Palau Maggie Tien.Palau is among the 23 nations that recognize Taiwan rather than China.Remengesau said that Tien will be leaving to Taiwan and will extend the invitation in behalf of Palau.‘She said she will work very hard to make the visit possible,” the president said.Remengesau said although he might be out of office by the time Ma visits Palau, the citizens will most likely welcome Ma.The president said it is expected that Ma will enjoy Palau as the Taiwan leader is fond of swimming.Ma won the presidency in a landslide in March and took office on May 20.Remengesau earlier said that Ma accepted a personal invitation from him to come to Palau in January, when the new administration is inaugurated.
