THE Saipan Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday announced its six board of director nominees.
They are Bank of Saipan President and Chief Executive Officer John Z. Arroyo, Chamber President Joseph “Joe” Guerrero, Paradise Dental Spa co-owner Donna Krum, Angil Design Inc. Founder Ron Smith, Chamber Treasurer Janice Tenorio, and Chamber Vice President Shayne Villanueva.
Arroyo holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Guam, and a master’s of business administration from Oregon State University.
He is a former Bank of Hawaii commercial loan officer, BankPacific vice president of credit administration, Coast360 Federal Credit Union chief executive officer, and Title Guaranty of Guam general manager.
Arroyo is the current grant administrator for the Building Optimism, Opportunities, and Stability Together or BOOST Program Grant of the CNMI Office of the Governor.
He is also on the American Red Cross-Northern Mariana Islands Chapter board of directors, the Northern Marianas College Foundation Board, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Saipan.
Arroyo has also been on various civic and government boards, including the Guam Land Use Commission, the American Red Cross-Guam Chapter, the Guam Bankers Association, Hurao Inc., Guma’ Mami Inc., the University of Guam Endowment Foundation, and the UOG Board of Regents.
Guerrero is the co-owner of Naked Fish Bar & Grill and has been a chamber member for almost two decades.
He currently chairs the Chamber’s Government Relations Committee and is a member of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers.
He hopes to continue contributing to the committee by providing input to legislation, public policies or regulations that affect the local business community.
Krum is the owner of Friend First Marketing Inc., a dental marketing company, and the plan administrator for the Island Smiles Discount Dental Plan.
She has served on the chamber board twice, and also served as president of the Soroptimist International-NMI Chapter, vice chair of the Blue Ribbon Initiative Consortium, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Saipan.
She is known for introducing pickleball to the CNMI, and loves being involved in the local community.
Smith founded Angil Design Inc. in 2001 which has evolved into a full-service information technology provider.
He helped found the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance in 2005 and has continued to support and foster MINA as a legacy board member.
In 2007, he established Atdao systems to promote and facilitate the adoption of independent solar energy systems in the CNMI.
An active chamber member since 2000, Smith currently serves as co-chair of its Government Relations Committee, and has previously served two terms on the board.
Tenorio is the CNMI IT&E senior manager of government and community relations and customer service and a former Board of Education chair.
She has been a chamber member for over a decade and has served on the board for a term, including as current chair of its Education and Workforce Committee.
Before joining the chamber, she served as its administrator planner.
Tenorio hopes to provide the chamber with “her utmost respectful networking relationships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, the community, and the private sector through her professional and jolly attributes.”
Villanueva is the owner of Roil Soil Marketing, Roil Soil Wholesale, and Roil Soil Clothing since 2014.
He has been a chamber member for six years, serving on the board for two terms, and is the co-chair of the chamber’s Events Committee.
He hopes to continue working with the business community “to develop relationships with young entrepreneurs and related business programs.”
A nine-member board of directors governs the chamber.
The general membership elects members to the board annually to serve either one calendar-year as an officer, or a staggered two-calendar- year term as a director.
Elections are held every November for the new directors of the chamber.
Chamber members who have served on the board for at least one year are eligible to run for chamber president.
