SENATE President Edith Deleon Guerrero has formed a team that will discuss with the House of Representatives the senators’ concerns regarding House Concurrent Resolution 23-2, which approves Gov. Arnold I. Palacios’ revenue projection for the fiscal year 2024 budget.
Authored by House Ways and Means Committee Chair Ralph N. Yumul, H.C.R. 23-2 was unanimously adopted by the House on Friday.
In her memorandum to Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez, the Senate president informed him that she has appointed Senate Vice President Donald M. Manglona as chair of the Senate conferees. She said the members are Senate Floor Leader Corina L. Magofna, Sen. Karl King-Nabors and Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider with Sen. Frank Q. Cruz, as the alternate member.
She also tasked Senate legal counsel Antoinette Villagomez, fiscal analyst Dave Demapan and legislative assistants Jolyn B. Duenas-Tagabuel and Devin C. Macaranas to assist the Senate conferees.
“I place every trust and confidence that our Senate conferees will work cooperatively to resolve any concerns with the House conferees in a timely manner to formally act on the H.C.R. 23-2,” the Senate president said in a memo.
On Monday, she referred the House concurrent resolution to Manglona, who chairs the Senate Fiscal Affairs Committee, for review and recommendations.
