The candidates all successfully filed to run before the May 23 deadline. The congressional seats became vacant when the at-large congressmen from the states of Chuuk and Kosrae were sworn in as president and vice president of the FSM.
For the state of Chuuk, a total of five candidates are running for the position:

For Kosrae state, the following individuals have filed their petition to run for the vacant seat:
