Task Force to consolidate schools created

Executive Order No. 259 stated that it is the Constitutional obligation of the national government of Palau to take positive action to attain certain national objectives and to promote certain national policies.

The order said that since the completion of the Compact Road makes the consolidation of schools in Palau feasible.“A consolidation of schools may be in the best interests of the Republic as it has the potential of reducing expenses and permitting the Ministry of Education to maximize the effect of the scarce resources available,” the order said.The task force members are composed of  Education Minister Masa-Aki Emesiochl; Rengiil Madalarak from the Parent Teacher Association; Palau High School Student body president; Principal Association president Wycliffe Emul; Gov. Masasinge Arurang; Sen. Regina Mesebeluu and Del. Kalistus Ngirturong; PCC’s Jay Olkeriil; Hermana Umetaro of the Belau Family School Community Association; Ivan Rudimch of Belau Employers and Educators Alliance; Belau Head Start program Eidelyne Ikeya and from Council of Chiefs Eter Victor Joseph.The task force is ordered to submit a preliminary report on its findings and recommendation for action by Dec. 31, 2009.The final report is asked to be submitted by March 31, 2010.
