Toribiong told reporters that the tentative schedule of the state visit will be by the end of September this year or during Palau’s Independence Day celebration.
Philippine Ambassador to Palau Ramoncito Marino said that the matter came out during a courtesy call with the new administration.Marino said Toribiong would have wanted a state visit to the Philippines this year but because of reciprocity, it should be Arroyo’s turn to come to Palau.In April 2008, former President Tommy Remengsau Jr. made a state visit to the Philippines.Marino said in Arroyo’s visit both countries would explore possible cooperation in the areas of aquaculture, agriculture and fisheries.Marino is confident that Arroyo will accept the invitation.Arroyo will end her term in year 2010. Filipinos comprise the second largest ethnic group in the island nation. It is the largest foreign workforce in Palau.There are about 5,000 Filipino workers here.
