Earlier Toribiong announced that he will be inviting Arroyo for a state visit to discuss several areas of cooperation between the two countries.
In his letter dated April 14, Toribiong said that “ I consider it most fitting and appropriate for me as the new president of Palau to have the honor of inviting you to visit Palau as my official guest at mutually accepted time this year as soon as your schedule permits.”The president said that the state visit is an important opportunity for the two leaders to discuss in depth common economic , health, educational, social and international issues aimed at promoting mutual understanding, cooperation.The visit of Arroyo to Palau will be a historical milestone because it will be the first ever visit by the President of the Republic of the Philippines.Earlier, Philippine Ambassador to Palau, Ramoncito Marino said that it will be most likely that Arroyo will be accepting the invitation.
