HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man is facing federal charges related to possessing methamphetamine and a stolen weapon during a drug trafficking crime.
On Feb. 21 in the District Court of Guam, Reynaldo Kinjo Zialcita was indicted on several charges stemming from an incident on Nov. 15, 2023.
According to the indictment, Zialcita is accused of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Zialcita was also accused of “knowing that he was an unlawful user and addict of a controlled substance” while he “did knowingly possess a firearm,” court documents state.
Zialcita allegedly had a SIG Sauer P365, which is believed to have been stolen or shipped to Guam, and 14 rounds of .380 ammunition.
Additionally, Zialcita was accused of carrying the firearm “during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, that is, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine hydrochloride,” the indictment states.
Forfeiture allegations were also identified in the indictment, which means if Zialcita is convicted, he would have to forfeit any property obtained or used during a drug charge. The indictment states in particular that Zialcita would need to forfeit $1,101 in cash, a 1998 gray Toyota Aristo, the firearm, ammunition and two empty magazines.
No other details regarding Zialcita’s alleged conduct or arrest were included in the indictment.
According to federal court files, Zialcita’s indictment and case were under seal until the seal was lifted Tuesday.
Zialcita appeared in the District Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
While his trial is scheduled to start May 30, Zialcita was placed on conditional release with terms that include not possessing firearms or consuming alcohol or drugs and submitting to drug tests by the U.S. Probation Office.
Zialcita was allowed to seek employment and participate in a substance abuse treatment program if directed, federal records state.
The District Court of Guam is seen Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, in Hagåtña.
