Yano to report about BPS accomplishments, challenges at the Police Chief Conference in Saipan

Director Yano will be reporting about the BPS accomplishments and challenges.CNMI Governor Benigno Fitial will welcome Director Yano and and the other Police Chiefs and Commanders from CNMI, Kosrae, Guam, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Yap, Marshall Islands, Australia and New Zealand when the MPEAM kick off today, Tuesday.Other Chiefs who are scheduled to report today are Chief Edmond Salik, Kosrae Division of Public Safety and Colonel Joaquin Reyes, Guam Police Commander.Chuuk Department of Public Safety Director Jimmy Emilio, Pohnpei DPS Director Lucas Carlos, Yap DPS Chief Christo Fugmow and Republic of the Marshall Islands DPS Commissioner George Lanwi are going to report about their respective accomplishments and challenges on Wednesday.Saipan is the host of this year’s meeting which is held annually where all police chiefs are gathered together and share information and ideas about Pacific Policing, terrorism and Pacific Police Development Program.This year’s meeting will talk about human trafficking which will be discussed by CNMI Assistant US Attorney Eric O’Malley and military buildup to be discussed by U.S. Marine Corps Lt.Col. Rudy Kube and US Navy Captain Ulysses Zalamea.Chief of Corrections Julio Omtei Ringang was appointed as the Acting Director of BPS while Yano is off island.
