Youth Ambassadors program wraps up

The IYAP was sponsored by the Taiwan government to promote understanding and friendship between young people of Palau and Taiwan.

Nine students from the National Central University were in the country from July 5 to July 23 to exchange cultural knowledge and foster friendships with 25 Palauan high school students.

President Johnson Toribiong and Taiwan Ambassador to Palau Maggie Tien joined in the night’s merriment. In their respective speeches, both expressed gratitude to Palau and Taiwan governments for the friendship and support.

All 34 Taiwanese and Palauan students who participated in the program received plaques of recognition and appreciation. Both group of students showed off their unique cultures through traditional dances.

This is the second year that that the IYAIP program was conducted. The program offers a variety of courses and activities, including math, science, computer skills, Chinese culture, sports, music and dances.

The students also enjoyed outdoor activities, including environmental protection work
