Bamboo MJD Marianas Water takes over SBA Tuesday League

BAMBOO MJD Marianas Water has taken over the Tuesday Division throne of the Saipan Billiards Association Open 8-Ball League after giving the Last Shot Ball Breakers an 11-2 beating on Tuesday last week at the New Bamboo Bar of Saipan Vegas.

In the opening Singles 8-Ball match, the Ball Breakers showed potential as Clay Bell slipped away with a win while Marianas Water snatched the other two rounds.

In the Partners 8-Ball matches, the duo of Marianas Water’s Roel Barretto and Joseph Achas were peerless as they triumphed in all three matches. As individual players, Marianas Water’s Jerry Soriano, Randy Sablan, Rey Matsunaga and Phil Kalen kept the momentum flowing to rack up 11 straight wins for their team.

It was not until the final Partners 8-Ball match when the Ball Breakers’ Oliver Gragasin and Victor Formales broke their team’s losing streak and went down fighting as Marianas Water clinched an 11-2 victory.

9Eleven DECM Wizards vs Last Shot/IT&E Destroyers

The second match of the night was won by the Wizards who survived the Destroyers, 7-6.

The Wizards managed to gain the early lead as Aljay Malang and Mario Boa snagged two of the three rounds in the Singles 8-Ball match while team-mates Daniel Miranda and Dan paired to claim the Partners 8-Ball match and give their team the lead, 3-1.

The Destroyers answered with a clean sweep in the second Singles 8-Ball match with George Lizardo, Rolly Villanueva and Cesar Sangalang contributing a total of three wins to take control of the match, but the Wizards returned fire with a four-win run to regain the lead, 7-4.

The Destroyers kept the fight going, but there only two matches left and they could not overtake the Wizards who won 7-6.

Arcee 9Eleven Hustlers vs Bamboo Club 88 Str8Ball

The Hustlers continued to rack up the wins with Str8Ball as their latest “victim.”

Str8Ball seemed to have a strong start as they held the lead, 4-3, during the first half of the game thanks to Jess Farinas, Randy David, and Rey Hermogenes clearing the first three rounds.

However, the Hustlers took over the second half with Mark Butac and Chester Hamoy in the frontline to secure victory for their team, 8-5.
