Dandan teams earn second win in boys middle school volleyball

DANDAN Middle School’s varsity and junior varsity teams collected their second win in the boys middle school division of the NMIVA-PSS Interscholastic Volleyball League on Thursday at the MHS gym.

Dandan V beat Hopwood Middle School, 21-9, 21-15.

In the first set, DMS V performed aggressively with Jordan Agulto and Rodel Apostol, along with the rest of the team, playing in sync and setting up each possession with strong returns to clinch the win, 21-9.

But HMS fought back in the second set and started to close the gap due to errors made by DMS V. However, DMS V eventually regained their rhythm to clinch the needed points to secure the set and the match, 21-15.

For their part, DMS JV  overcame Chacha Oceanview Middle School JV, 21-8, 21-17.

DMS JV’s Austin Camacho, Kianu Camacho, Colton Guinto and Dustin Pangelinan worked well together as they kept the ball alive and finished each possession strong using all three touches to ease their way to a first-set victory.

In the second set, Chacha’s Jeremyah Kisa and Vicente Leon Guerrero kept their team’s hope alive as they excelled in the back line to stay within a single-digit margin. But in the end, their efforts were  not enough as they were eventually bested by DMS JV, 17-21.

Winners, too

Also joining the winner’s circle were Grace Christian Academy V which defeated Agape Christian School V, 21-14, 21-19; Saipan Community School V which outlasted Mount Carmel School V, 15-21, 21-18, 15-12; and Saipan International School V which bested Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 21-10, 21-10.
