Kanoa takes U8, U10 soccer titles

KANOA Football Club’s U8 and U10 teams won their respective President’s Cup division championships on Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

But Kanoa’s youngest crew had to work hard to earn a championship spot. After reaching the semifinals, Kanoa’s U8 players met their first major obstacle — Shirley’s Football Club.

Kanoa U8 put up a fight and scored two goals, but Shirley’s proved to be the superior team, beating Kanoa U8, 5-2.

The Kanoa U8 players had to battle their way back to the top to set up a rematch against Shirley’s.

This time, Kanoa U8 took control of the game thanks to the teamwork of Khoen Torres, Keanu Pangelinan, Hayven Moteisou, Aaron Iglecias, Neia Tagabuel, Isaiah Sablan, Logan Propts, Jay Santos Jr., Xander Binghit and Jeffrey Isaac.

Kanoa U8 eked out a 1-0 win to hand Shirley’s players their first loss of the day.

In the second championship game, Kanoa U8 once again  triumphed over Shirley’s, this time in a penalty shootout, 1-0, to secure the championship.

Champions, too

In the U10 division, Kanoa 1 cruised through with four consecutive wins.

The team — consisting of Aldric Antonio, Ronald Manabat, Izaiah Tenorio, Donald Tagabuel, Aiden Reyes, Damien Concepcion, Chance Reyes, Juan Magboo and Jessalyn Isaac — defeated sister-team Kanoa 2 (7-0), Shirley’s (3-1), Matansa Football Club (4-0) and Shirley’s again, 5-1, in the finale.
