Leo Ganacias tops HANMI golf tourney

LEO Ganacias shot a net score of 68.80 to win the 2022 HANMI Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Saturday at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course.  The tournament format was Black Jack Double Peoria.

“I basically just played my game,” Ganacias said. “I stayed away from doubles. I had a couple of birdies and very good putts.”

Ganacias chipped in for birdie on hole #4 to end the front nine with a gross score of 38.

“It started nicely but toward the last two holes it started to drizzle,” he said. “I’ve done Peorias before — you’ve to stay away from bad holes, maintain pars, make birdies and hopefully hit the right holes.”

On the back nine, Ganacias made three bogeys but scored a birdie on the 18th hole to notch a gross score of 38 and a total score of 76. With a handicap of 7.20, Ganacias secured the title with a net score of 68.80.

In second place was young golfer Joshua Atalig who closed the front nine with a gross of 40, and shot a gross of 41 on the back for a total score of 81. With a 10.80 handicap, his net score was 70.20.
