TWO teams scored stunning upsets in the Thursday Division of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
Last Shot Eleven Tiger took down the top contender, Bamboo Soudelor Construction, 8-5, at Last Shot Bar while VFW IT&E Homeboyz stunned Bamboo Kabalen, 8-5.
In their match, Eleven Tiger and Soudelor Construction split the opening Singles 8-Ball game, 2-2.
However, when it came to teamwork, Eleven Tiger excelled with Jack Unsa and Pepsi Pomdi, along with Rey Pinangay and Jack Thornsaket, sweeping the Partners 8-Ball game to seize the lead, 4-2.
In the second Singles 8-Ball game, Maverick Espinosa was the only victorious Soudelor Construction player as they fell further behind Eleven Tiger, 3-7.
After splitting the second Partners 8-Ball game, Eleven Tiger already secured the win but Soudelor Construction continued to put up a fight and bagged the final partners game before settling for defeat, 5-8.
Homeboyz vs Kabalen
The VFW IT&E Homeboyz, for their part, outscored Bamboo Kabalen, 8-5.
This time, it was the individual skills of the Homeboyz that led to victory. Roman, Rodriguez, Cesar Sangalang and Nolan Cultura scored 3-1 in the opening singles game while team mates Jeff Garcia and Rogel Caruana bagged the second singles game for another 3-1 run.
Kabalen scored a two-win sweep in the second partners game before the Homeboyz could claim victory, 8-5.
Also joining the winner’s circle were the 9 Eleven Crazy Ballers who outhustled the 8 Eleven Rebels 2, 8-5; and SCS Just Chillin’ who thumped VFW No Regrets, 11-2.
