As one of the most decorated athletes, Mesa said he is very enthusiastic not only about himself but the entire Guam team waiting to win this time in the most awaited and, according to him, is considered the planet’s biggest sports event.
He noted that the World Masters Olympics will be attended by ex-NBA and Olympic gold medalists “so imagine just how competitive the event is.”
Opportunities like this, he said “will never just knock on doors.”
“You have to go out and look for it,” he said.
Mesa who won bronze in the 1991 Alice Spring in Australia and played against NBA legend, Clint Richardson is one of those he has under his belt.
Aside from playing with Team Guam, Mesa will also coach other division teams and officiate other games in the Masters athletic event.
He vowed to return to Saipan after the event to continue his commitment to the island’s youth sports program.
