Rommel Dizon who did not put up enough offense in the first half accelerated Tamayo’s surge in the third quarter, while White Capalad chipped in eight points to secure their fifth victory.
Tamayo scattered 44 points in the court including his three triples in the first and second quarters. He also basketed seven free throws.
Triple J was leading by seven points at the end of the first quarter but Tamayo trimmed it down to four with his three-pointer at the start of the second quarter.
He continued to surge and cut Triple J’s lead further to two-points before the halftime break.
Dizon came into scene and backed Tamayo to help the Jaypers take the lead then, pounded Triple J as second half starts. Then, the Jaypers did not look back.
Dizon and Capalad picked up where Tamayo left off combining 18 points to leave Triple J far behind in the final quarter.
Jeffrey Pagarao and Andy Mortos led Triple J’s scoring hands in a losing attempt they both fired thee point shots and invested in inside plays plus a couple of free-throw shots.
Mythical Five 103, Cooking Gas 92
Boyet Arreza mounted the attack in the beginning of the second half while Leo Factor dragged DL Cooking Gas defenders for a ride picking up most fouls to earn from free throw shots, and Mythical Five defeated DL Cooking Gas, 103, 92.
Ferdie Tobias and Gilbert Miranda carried the team together in the first quarter buried DL Cooking Gas with seven points lead.
Factor inched Mythical Five’s way up connecting nine points in the second quarter.
Arreza rampaged in the third quarter scoring 17 of his 25 points and Factor fired seven points including three of his 10 penalty shots.
Factor and Arreza led the Mythical Five in stretching the lead in the final quarter and handed the team its victory.
George De Guzman scored 26 points as he led DL Cooking Gas in a losing attempt to come from behind.
