2nd QQ tourney coming up

This season’s theme will be IT’s GAME TIME and music will be directed by DJ Jay on the House. All players along with their coaches and team managers are encouraged to arrive promptly before the team assembly at 4:30 p.m.

“We would like all of our teams to join and attend the teams’ Parade to showcase their uniforms, muses, and banners. It would be nice to be united during the opening ceremony in front of our guest speakers, family, friends, and most especially our fans,” league director Rey Perez told Variety.

When asked who their guest speaker for this season will be Perez said, “The opening prayer will be by Father Ike followed by the welcoming remarks by the honorable Mayor of Saipan Donald Flores, and then Parks and Recreations’ Tony Benavente and the QQ league president and QQ Car Rental owner James Hann.”

“We have given all of the players ample time to clear their schedules this coming Saturday to give way for our opening rites same as what we did last year,” Perez added.

At 5 p.m. at the team assembly should be finished giving way to the Parade of the Teams. At 5:30 p.m. the opening ceremony will start with the opening prayer lead by Father Ike. The welcoming remarks will then be made by Saipan Mayor Donald Flores followed by Tony Benavente and then James Hann.

In order for a team to win the Best Uniform and Best Muse Award it must have at least eight players present during the opening ceremony. Each player must have a complete uniform including the top and basketball shorts. The team must have a muse.

League commissioner Marlon Sison and league director Rey Perez will then greet and welcome everyone as well followed by the parade of all muses and their awarding as well. The oath of sportsmanship will then be led by the first season’s Most Valuable Player Jun Estolas.

Last on the program will be the drawing of the first and second debut games with the opening tip-off at 6 pm. The second game will then be at 8:30 p.m.

The teams that have confirmed their entrance and are now officially entered in the games are: team Ferrera Builders headed by Wowie Abuel, team Mobil headed by Marvin Deocares and Jun Estolas, team Rollers headed by Joe Diaz, team Sonics headed by Omar Ajoste, team Prospect headed by Perry Inos, team Konflikt headed by Elmer Esdrelon, team Blue Hauz headed by Dexter Tenorio, and the Smart Cagers headed by Ehroll Peredo.

According to the QQ Basketball Tournament’s Facebook page, The QQ Car Rental Basketball League is a non-profit organization, under the United Chinese Sports Club, founded by James Han on June 30, 2010.

The league aims to educate, train and develop basketball players and coaches to a higher level of playing indoor/outdoor basketball in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Games played during the league are governed by the FIBA rules.

The league coordinators would like to extend their gratitude to their main and co-sponsors who are QQ Car Rental, MARPAC, Hard Rock Cafe, Ernie Molina, Rollers Basketball Club, and the Masters Basketball Federations of the Northern Marianas Islands.
