Conclusion of All Schools Qualifier makes way for Championship rounds

This two-day event will showcase sprints in different distances which include: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m dashes along with throwing competitions that include, the javelin, discuss, and shotput categories. The Long Jump and High Jump divisions will also be present this Friday and Saturday.

In the boys’ U18 category team Marianas High School more than dominated their respective races. In the 100m dash MHS’ Ryan Ichihara and Jim Lacsina seated themselves comfortably in first and second place. The former pulled 11.07 while the latter clocked in a lash away with 11.7.

“I feel honored and proud to be representing my school in this weekend’s championship competition. Although I placed second I will try my very best to seat myself in first place,” said young gun Jim Lacsina in an interview with the Marianas Variety.

“I practice every chance that I get when I am not in school and doing personal things. Everytime I am at the track I give it my one hundred percent all the while remembering to remain humble in front of my colleagues and friends,” Lacsina added.

Saipan Southern High School’s Brandon Phillip placed third after timing in at 11.95 followed by Marianas High School’s Jonas Litulumar Jr. at 12.06.

In the girls’ 100m dash Marianas High Schools’ avid runners dominate the bracket once again. Rachel Abrams and Reylynn Sapong placed first and second with 13.79 and 14.31 respectively.

In third place was Kagman High School’s Ashley Babauta with 15.1 edging past Marianas High School’s Jeralyn Castillo 15.23.

“A big kudos goes out to all the participants, coaches, teachers, parents, PSS, McDonalds, the NMA board and most especially to my volunteer crew (Track team) that had to put with me during the past two months,” said meet director Elias Rangamar in an email to the Marianas Variety

“I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to Mr. & Mrs. Sylvan and Meng Rangamar, Mr. Pete Igisomar, Steve Tomokane and his crew and lastly to Mr. Jojo Attao and his staff at the Division of Sports and Recreation Office(DCCA), and of course to our media friends. Thank you all for your coverage of the preliminaries and your continuing support,” Rangamar added.

Coaches and players are reminded to please arrive promptly during the championship matches this Friday and Saturday to start the competitions on time. The community is highly encouraged to join these athletes out in the complex for more support.
