Reklai, Schmidt, Tkel and Mengloi will be competing in the athletics while Stevick will be competing in the weighlifting division.The team left for Cook Islands on Sept. 14.Palau National Olympic Committee president Frank Kyota said that aside from the mini games competition, the Palau representatives will be attending the Pacific Games General Assembly.The Pacific Mini Games enables smaller nations to compete against each other.Also a multi-sport event it is a scaled-down version of the main Pacific Games and is similarly rotated on a four year basis in the intervening years between the main games.Baklai Temengil, PNOC’s Secretary General said that during the assembly, various topics will be discussed such as the selection of the host city for the 2015 mini games and eligibility requirements for the athletes.Temengil said that a dinner reception was held Sunday night for the athletes prior to their departure.Kyota said the mini games are part of the training of the athletes for the upcoming Micronesian Games to be hosted by Palau next year.
