Leading by as much as 12 points entering the last canto of the match against team Galaxy, Surangel team mishandled the ball on the fourth which gave the opportunity for their challenger to put up a run in capturing the lead at 78 – 77 with points coming from Supnet and Senandre who scored 24 and 20, respectively. However, Deloy Pingot of the Surangel put matters in his own hands by streaking to the baskets to drain back to back two pointers on the last minute of the fourth quarter to get his team back on the track. With the last plays on the progress, Galaxy were only able to score two points with seconds remaining while Surangel took care of the ball until the final buzzer with an ending score of 81 – 80. Arnold and Pingot topscored for Surangel with 28 and 26.
In other match, a balanced offensive and defensive attack by team PPR – Shark Attack as they resume their quest for another crown this year by defeating their next assignment team Cliffside with a score of 90 – 86 while brother team PPR – Stingrays were not that sharp at the hardwood as they folded to team Sam’s Sharks at a score of 61 – 44. Fish n Fins also got a win after crushing team Palasia, 79 – 58, with their high speed game of Run and Gun.In the government division, team PNCC got the best from the entire bench in thumping team MOH at score of 82 – 68 at the final bell while team MOF’s Weston Ketebengang and Edson Chiokai scored 24 and 19 to beat team MOJ, 84 – 71.For the scheduled matches, September 17 will have Fish N Fins against Galaxy Buiders, Surangel and Sons goes to meet with PPR Stingrays, Fuji / WCTC versus PPR SharkAttack then on September 18, MOF Omsangel faces team PNCC, MOH faces off PNOC Mercury 300 HP while on September 21, KSG versus PTA / SDA, MPIIC versus MOE II, Island Rhythm versus Galaxy Builders.
