The weather, unpredictable and at times unnerving, and the huge rise in fuel cost have not prevented players from Kayangel to the games nor have they kept the Salty Boys, the Redmen, the Oldiais, the men from Kiueluul, and the Blue Sharks from mustering their best to claim ECSL crown. The rivalry between teams is evident during the games. Controversial calls are meticulously argued – and sometimes names are called. The main sponsors of the league, Senator Hokkons Baules and Senator Mlib Tmetuchl, and the organizers of the league Ongiall Association and the team managers and coaches have seen to it that the games are played in a professional manner and that no one leaves for home unhappy.Last Sunday, teams from Kayangel, Melekeok, Ngchesar, and Ngaraard were in Ngarchelong and played heated games – some say, the best so far. The games were played fiercely and unexpected outcomes resulted. However fierce the games were, however hard each player played, and however the number of extra ordinary plays was displayed, the fans and everyone present cheered for the spirit portrayed through each of the players – a spirit that has brought each of them onto a field of oneness.
