From the start of the game the much taller Fundamentalists grabbed hold the lead in the first three quarters of the game only to lose the lead and the game to the Satbahis in the last six seconds of the fourth quarter after Luis Abuel nailed a bold lay up shot.
Darren Keizer of the Fundamentalists garnered 6 points on his own in the first ten minutes of the game. Centerman Ben Wood made his presence in the game surely recognized after contributing 4 points to the game with his teammate Kirk Schuller who also fended off 4 points.
The Fundamentalists grabbed hold of the driver’s seat of the game by a shaky point as the Satbahis refused to let the gap go too far, 14-13.
The Fundamentalists left them far behind in the second quarter after they devised a strong defensive barrier to keep the Satbahis at bay. Centerman Wood and teammate Eric Cooke each garnered a three pointer shot to leave the Satbahis far behind. By half time the scores were up 27-20 in favor of the Fundamentalists.
Upon entering the second half of the bout, Coach Rey Perez made sure his team players knew exactly what to do to keep the Fundamentalists from making baskets; and it worked.
After devising their defensive plays and grabbing possession from turn overs, the Satbahis were able to close the gap to a one point difference. Together the Satbahis garnered ten points, 31-30.
Both teams nervously anticipated the last quarter if the game but it was all over for the Fundamentalists after point guard Luis Abuel nailed that final lay up shot and teammate Bart Demapan bagging a charity shot after being fouled on his way down the court to shoot a fade away shot.
With less than six seconds left in the game the Fundamentalists made one last effort to shoot the ball but it bounced off the rim giving the win to the Satbahis, 42-40.
