GABRIEL Walsh and Brooklyn Jones seized the spotlight at the inaugural Run Saipan ASC Trust 401K Day Sunset Strides 5K, topping the U12 division in the race that started and finished at the Garapan Fishing Base on Friday.
It was the perfect evening for island runners as they enjoyed fitness, fun, and friendship in a free community event filled with medals, cash prizes, and camaraderie.
Walsh led the youth competition throughout the Beach Road course, finishing in 24:48.82. He was followed by Declan Spaeth at 26:15.58 and Michael Soriano at 41:17.93.
Jones, who placed third overall, won the girls division with a time of 27:30.92. Olivia Walsh followed in 33:22.07, and Ayana Ysabelle Jin finished in 40:22.28.
In the men’s division, top runner Victor Nash Santos claimed first place in 22:02.18, ahead of Genrev Canolo (22:22.58) and Dave Odicta (22:27.14).
In the women’s division, Tammy Ackerman dominated with a 22:30.20 finish, followed by Lovel Spaeth (25:03) and Krista Hawley (25:10).
“Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate National 401K Day with ASC Trust, and thank you to ASC Trust for creating another wonderful community 5K,” said Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. “We also thank ASC Trust, DC Pro Rentals, DC Pro Solutions, Northern Marianas Athletics, Hopwood Middle School Cadets, Saipan International School, NMI News Service, volunteers, race officials, and especially Marianas Variety and its James Sablan,” he added.
The top 3 in the men’s division: Dave Odicta, Victor Nash Santos, and Genrev Canolo.
LoVel Spaeth, Tammy Ackerman, and Krista Hawley are the top 3 in the women’s division.
