BANMI in a press statement on Monday said Aguon and Sewell will continue to train and lead both NMI’s men’s and women’s team to the Micro Games that will be held in Palau this year.
Elias Rangamar, BANMI president, also announced that the selection for the men’s national basketball squad is being carried out by invitation only.
He said over 25 players have been invited to participate in the upcoming tryouts which will begin on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 at the Northern Marianas High School gymnasium.
The invitation letters, he said have been sent out to the prospective players.
The selection, Rangamar said were based on skills, size and potential, athleticism and attitude.
It is still not too late however, for other potential players to be selected.
Any player who was not selected but meets seven-year residency requirement and wishes to try out are encouraged to call Agoun at the NMC gym at tel. 234-5498 extension 1500.
The women’s national team program, Rangamar added will take a different route and will hold it’s tryouts in April but the skills development program will start on Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. at the Gilbert C. Ada gym.
Rangamar stressed that in order for a player to be able to try it out for the national team, he or she must put in at least three hours in the skills development program and meets the seven-year residency requirement.
