The Brewers’ Dennis Cabrera pitches against the Falcons in an SBL Masters League game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
IN what seemed like a championship game, the Brewers emerged victorious, eliminating the Falcons 16-15 in a first-round playoff game of the 2024 SBL Masters League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
The Brewers gained the upper hand early, quickly retiring the Falcons in the top of the first inning. In the bottom half, the Brewers scored two runs, led by Frank Robert’s RBI single, to take a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons turned the tables in the second inning, scoring three runs in the top half, highlighted by Richard Quitugua’s two-RBI triple. They then silenced the Brewers in the bottom half to take the lead, 3-2.
In the third inning, the Falcons added three more runs, led by Dan Joab’s two-RBI single. The Brewers responded with two runs of their own to stay within striking distance, 6-4.
In the fourth inning, the Brewers kept the Falcons off the scoreboard while scoring a run to cut the deficit to 6-5.
However, in the next two innings, the Falcons soared, adding six runs to the Brewers’ four, to extend their lead to 12-9.
In the top of the seventh and final inning, the Falcons sought to seal the win, adding three runs, highlighted by Chris George’s two-RBI double.
However, they faltered in the bottom half. Communication issues arose as they failed to realize their batting order was out of sequence, allowing the Brewers to capitalize with a seven-run rally — four of which came from errors — to upset the Falcons, 16-15.
