Cadagat punctuated his three-point feat in the first quarter with a free throw and a successful lay up to keep pace with the rampaging New Fresh Ol’ Aces.
Mike Olaitiman’s brief appearance paid off as he inched Ol’ Aces up with a one-point cushion towards the end of the second quarter. At this period, Elias Rangamar and Peter Camacho controlled the defensive rebound putting grip on the Prospects’ offense.
Chris Paul, Mike Wright and Derrick Aughenbaugh set the way too narrow for the Ol’ Aces to run in during the the third quarter. Peter Camacho who was instrumental in most of their regular season victories got injured in an attempt to tie the game.
Quincy Johnson took over in bringing the ball down giving Cadagat more space to move around and pick the best shooting spot. Cadagat scored nine of his points in the third quarter.
Ol’ Aces missed three consecutive attempts in the beginning of the fourth quarter when Paul and Wright were in total control of the rebound. The ball went down too quick with Johnson.
Then, options to charge the basket were just too many for the Prospects as consecutive fast breaks ended in 3-to-1 situation with Peredo always on the left side to fake and shoot.
Paul’s four free throws stretched the lead and the Ol’ Aces’ attempts to stop the clock with fouls did not work well enough.
