CHELSEA Soccer School Women’s Team of Hong Kong claimed the 2024 LPK Cup with a flawless 3-0-0 win-draw-loss record at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Thursday.
The one-day, round-robin tournament featured three other teams: the host Northern Marianas Football Association Women’s Team, Tuloy FC Women’s Team from the Philippines and Shonan Bellmare FC U15 Girls Team from Japan.
In their first game, Chelsea defeated the NMIFA Women’s Team, 2-0, and then took down Shonan Bellmare, 1-0, and Tuloy FC, 1-0, to secure the championship.
In second place was Shonan Bellmare with a 2-0-1 record followed by the NMI in third place with one win and two losses. Tuloy finished fourth with three losses.
Jannah Casarino, who scored the game-winning goal to hand the NMI their only win, said she was grateful for the chance to play against other women’s teams.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to play against them,” she said. “We usually don’t get the chance to play against other women’s teams. We usually just play against U15 boys, so I think it’s a good challenge to play against other women. I just thank them for coming here.”
Former Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the honorary chair of Tuloy FC, was the special guest of the LPK Cup, which honors the Tan Holdings matriarch, the late Lam Pek Kim.
