CNMI Fire hosted the 2nd Annual Marianas Fire/EMS Goodwill Golf Tournament over the weekend and reigned supreme over Team Guam, 14-4, to earn back-to-back championship honors. The event was held at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
The three-day golf event kicked off on Friday with a welcome party and social round at Coral Ocean Resort, followed by two days of tournament play at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
The tournament adopted a modified Ryder Cup-style format with a total of 18 points up for grabs.
Competition began with a two-man scramble on the first day, where CNMI Fire took an early lead by defeating Guam, 5-1. On the second day, a 12-vs-12 individual medal play round saw CNMI extend its lead by claiming 9 of the 12 points available, finishing the weekend with a commanding 14-4 overall win.
With the victory, CNMI Fire successfully defended its title and secured the tournament championship for the second year in a row. Last year’s inaugural event was hosted by Guam in March 2024, where CNMI Fire also emerged victorious.
The annual tournament brings together firefighters from Guam and the Northern Marianas in the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation.
In a post on LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort’s Facebook page, the organizers stated:
“The tournament was a huge success with an outstanding turnout. Team CNMI proudly claimed victory in this year’s Goodwill Tournament. But more importantly, the event served its greater purpose — strengthening relationships and advancing the ‘One Marianas’ initiative through camaraderie, networking, and brotherhood with Team Guam.”
