The plane tickets have been donated by Continental Micronesia in support of the 8th Annual Foundation Open golf tournament, which will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The tournament aims to raise critical funds for the
Northern Marianas College, the lone post-secondary, WASC-accredited institution in the CNMI.
“Continental Airlines has always been a strong supporter of expanding higher education opportunities for students in the CNMI and throughout the Pacific region,” Charles M. Duncan, president, Continental Micronesia and staff vice president, Asia Pacific, Continental Airlines said.
“We will continue to support the efforts of the Foundation in any way we can to ensure that CNMI students have access to enhanced instructional programs and services.”
“We are extremely grateful for Continental’s contribution to the tournament and its continued commitment to the College,” NMC Foundation President Ben Babauta said.
The 8th Annual Foundation Open golf tournament is set to be a one-day event to take place at the West Course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort. Show time is 6:00am with a shotgun start at 7:00am sharp.
“I encourage all golfers to come out on Saturday to play for a very worthy cause,” said Babauta. “We’re targeting 120 golfers, which will make for a great field in one of the finest tournaments of the season.”
In addition to the roundtrip tickets, there are cash prizes for the top winners of the six flights: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. There are also significant prizes that will be announced later for hole in one.
To register to play, stop by Triple J Motors, the Laolao Bay Golf Course, or the NMC Cashier’s Office to complete a registration form and pay the $95 entrance fee. Registration forms can also be found on www.nmcnet.edu.
